Can you imagine moving into a home that is part of an eco friendly development? Can you imagine the energy and cost savings along with the environmental impact of an entire neighborhood of eco friendly homes? These green neighborhoods are beginning to happen and there is one being built ten miles outside of Los Angeles in Santa Fe Springs, California.
The Villages at Heritage Springs will have 500 residences and reside on over 54 acres in Santa Fe Springs, California. Each home has particular eco friendly additions that will make this entire neighborhood greener.
The roof has a SunPower System of tiles that draws in energy from the sun to help power your home. When your system brings in more power than what your home is using, it is sent to the utility company and you get a credit for the energy on your electric bill. This SunPower System saves people up to 60% on their electric bill! Wow. Plus, homeowners receive a one time federal tax credit equal to 30% of the price of the system, valued at up to $4,000. Not bad.
Other energy-efficient features of the homes of Villages at Heritage Springs are Double-Pane, Low-Emissivity (Low-E) Windows, Energy Star®-qualifying fluorescent lighting, energy-efficient gas furnace, Energy Star qualifying central air conditioner, Energy Star-qualified gas tankless water heaters, and Energy Star-rated and Cool Roof Rating Council-approved Cool Roof Tiles. Overall a lot of features to make the homes of Villages at Heritage Springs more eco friendly and they will save money because of the electricity and water savings. Hopefully more neighborhoods will be built or renovated to be eco friendly like this one.
