Old Wine and Beer Bottles Become Beautiful Pottery

by Kate on August 19, 2009

Old beer and wine bottles are sent to landfills every day which is sad because they are very easy to recycle…but what happens to them after they are recycled? In Bellingham, Washington, Nicole Whitney has found a great way to reuse recycled glass.

In January of 2000, Nicole Whitney started Paloma Pottery and all of the pottery is completely made from recycled glass by hand into beautiful dinnerware, jewelry, tables, and lots of other things. Each piece comes in a variety of colors to fit your home and style. “I was inspired to recycle glass within my pottery and when I saw the results I knew I had found my niche,” said Nicole Whitney.

For handmade pottery, the prices for the pieces are affordable and they make great eco friendly and unique gifts for holidays, weddings, and any other type of celebration. You can buy it online on the Paloma Pottery website or if you live in the Pacific Northwest, Whole Foods carries some of the products as well.

Looking at all of the products, I felt like a kid in a candy store. Can you imagine a dinnerware set of these beautiful eco friendly dishes? Or one of the beautiful bistro tables? I think one thing they are missing is a registry. What a great place for a bride and groom to register to their green their home! Plus each piece comes with 100% satisfaction guarantee along with a free unique gift with each order.

What a great way to recycle and reuse to make beautiful new products!
