Ever had a parking ticket? I have had a few in my time…and they can be so miserably frustrating. Hopefully you are commuting and don’t need to park your car… but in the cases that it is necessary, parking meters are no fun, but they do make money for the city from the people that do use them…which from a city’s standpoint makes them necessary.
In Ann Arbor, Michigan, they decided to take a greener and more convenient approach to parking meters with a solar parking station. Powered by a solar panel, the solar parking station allows people to pay by cash and by debit and credit cards. Not only that, you can refill the meter over the phone! Making it so much easier to fill up the parking meter and avoid tickets along with saving the equivalent of 3,400 9-volt batteries in energy per year. Wow!
So, we all hate parking meters… but if we have to have them, Ann Arbor’s solar parking stations are the way to go. Hopefully more cities will adopt these parking meters.

i am looking to purchase 3 solar panelled parking meters – how much are they? and are they readily available.
its for a retail centre in main street blanchardstown,dublin 15.
