I love coffee and I have talked about how to be a greener coffee lover before along with airlines that go green with coffee. Now there is another type of green coffee out there and that is Solar Roast Coffee from Pueblo, Colorado.
Two brothers started Solar Roast in 2004 in their parents’ backyard using mirrors, a broccoli steamer, and an old satellite dish. They have come a long way in five years. Now they have a custom built solar machine that roasts the coffee beans and runs on solar power.
Solar Roast carries twelve different coffees and they offer one type that is organic and that is the Bolivia Organic. As of right now, Solar Roast Coffees are only sold in retail stores in Colorado. If you aren’t a Colorado resident, no worries, Solar Roast also sells their coffee online as well for your enjoyment. Priced from $12 to $14 a pound, this ecofriendly coffee is a pretty good deal. One tip, if you do decide to order Solar Roast Coffee online, they have a flat shipping rate, so order in large quantities to save green (less money per amount of coffee) and go green (less shipping means less carbon emissions). Yum, solar roasted coffee!
