Lamborghini is Going Green

by Kate on June 10, 2009

The Italian sports car company, Lamborghini is going green… and spending a lot of green in order to do so. The goal is to reduce CO2 emissions by 30% in it’s factory by 2010 and Lamborghini is spending $48.6 million to do so. Wow!

The Lamborghini factory is in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy and part of the $48.6 million renovation is a new photovoltaic roof to help power the Lamborghini facility using solar power. They expect that the photovoltaic roof will create 1,582 Megawatts of power and this will cut down CO2 emissions for the factory by 20% in two years, so this is definitely an excellent green renovation for Lamborghini.

Other green renovations for the Lamborghini factory are re-insulated ceilings, more efficient lighting, and more efficient heating systems. Lamborghini is not only making changes to its factory…they are also planning on making some green changes to it’s vehicles. Yep, that is right, expect a hybrid Lamborghini! This is definitely a good thing, since the most recent Lamborghini model, the Gallardo LP560-4 sports car, gets 17 miles per gallon highway, up from 14 miles per gallon… yikes. Lamborghini definitely has a ways to go to make their vehicles more sustainable.
