Who doesn’t love cashmere? It is soft, it is warm, it is expensive, and it is fragile. I know I have had my share of cashmere sweaters that get holes in them after a bad experience at the dry cleaner or even just wearing them around. After spending so much money on a cashmere sweater, when it does wear out, what do you do with it? Do you give it away even though it has holes? Do you keep it? TeddyLux Recycled Cashmere figured out a great use for recycled cashmere – Teddybears.
TeddyLux Recycled Cashmere is a business in Georgia that upcycles cashmere sweaters into cashmere stuffed animals and baby toys including: Teddybears, elephants, bunnies, and an assortment of baby toys. They are adorable and of course incredibly soft. Although a little pricey at $50 for a cashmere animal and $15 for a cashmere baby toy, they would be a very nice recycled gift.
If you have cashmere sweaters that you do not want anymore, you can send them to TeddyLux and they will reimburse your postage. You can also make a custom cashmere toy using your own cashmere sweater for $50, the same price as their other cashmere toys. That way your cashmere toy is more personal and you can hold on to that cashmere sweater you loved!
TeddyLux Recycled Cashmere toys are an excellent example of how upcycling can lead to another wonderful product.
