Generally when I think of Airline Food, I think of my indegestion pills I need to take after I eat it…it is that tasty. I also think about all of the wasteful disposable packing each meal is in. Flying is already not green, but the wasteful food makes it worse. Hawaiian Airlines has decided to change that.
Hawaiian Airlines‘ food is going green. Not only is the disposable food packaging and utensils compostable, the water bottles are as well! If you are sitting in coach you have two meal options. One basic meal for free or a premium meal that is ten dollars. Both meals are made of local ingredients with no preservatives and all meals are in compostable packaging.
The premium food options include: Sushi bento box with California rolls; Taco salad with grilled chicken breast and tortilla chips; Chicken Caesar salad; Satay chicken on vermicelli noodles with snow peas, cabbage, and carrots. Wow. That is a lot different than what I usually eat when I fly.
So if you happen to be flying in Hawaii anytime soon, Hawaiian Airlines has green delicious options for your delight. I hope other airlines follow by example.
