It is Spring time again and the annoying result of the beautiful sunshine and blooming flowers is bugs. If you want to avoid ants spoiling your picnic or crawling in your socks when you are out and about you probably need some sort of insecticide… Now, we do buy organic for a reason – to get away from that…but what about an organic insecticide made from natural plant oils? One that is safe to use around children and pets? We found one!
EcoSMART is made from the Organic Plant Oils: Rosemary and Cinnamon amongst other natural oils (*listed below). Ecosmart insecticide is safe to use around children and pets (This is really great. Personal story – my bunny died after licking an insecticide…very sad.) We love natural products like this that replace toxic ones…at the same time we need to find out if this natural insecticide really works. So we decided to do a little test.
EcoSMART Insecticide Test:
We had a lovely warm day and we thought a great way to attract some bugs would be to set out some chocolate to melt in the sun from Rob’s birthday. It was a warm day, so this did not take very long and soon enough we had a nice chocolatey splat of mess that was the feast of many ants. Out came the EcoSmart Insecticide.
The initial reaction was: Wow. It smells really nice! Kind of like Wintergreen (a quick look at the ingredients showed that Wintergreen oil was an active ingredient.)
2nd Reaction: Dead ants. A few ants were sprayed by the EcoSmart and they wiggled and died right there. We left some ants crawlin in the chocolatey mess and we did our last test. We sprayed around the area of the chocolate to see what would happen. A few hours later we came out to check the chocolatey mess….No more ants. So EcoSmart kills on contact and continues to work. This initial test was done a week ago and there are still no ants on the chocolatey mess.
Not only does EcoSmart kill ants, it also kills: roaches, spiders, crickets, pill bugs, and silverfish. The best part about it is you can safely spray anywhere in your home and you won’t have to worry about scary air pollution or endangering your family because it is non-toxic and it is made from all natural ingredients.
