So, you have heard that the standard toilet uses over 3.5 gallons of water every time you flush, but you really don’t want to shell out over $300 on a new sustainable toilet. Well, here are some great tips for you to green your toilet.
Put a brick in your toilet. Really anything around this size and weight will do. The brick causes the toilet to think it is filled up with water and triggers it to stop filling, when in reality, the density of the brick has made the water rise.
Use recycled toilet paper. So, it is not always as soft, but it is cheaper and better for the environment. You will be less wasteful and save money if you can handle the cheap recycled toilet paper. I am talking about the kind at Office Depot, you might find more expensive brands that are softer. 
Don’t put pills down the toilet. Filters are not made to filter these out… you don’t want someone’s medications in your drinking water. Yikes!
When the toilet dies, recycle. Is your toilet done? You can recycle it! Just contact your local recycling company. Some stores will take your old toilet as a coupon for a dual flush or another more efficient toilet.

Great tips. Especially the one about pills. A lot of traces of prescription pills is nowadays found in fish.
