- Buy LED Christmas lights
, they use less energy, last longer, and are more sustainable than regular Christmas lights.
- Make Edible Christmas Ornaments out of Gingerbread orĀ Chocolate!
- Check out your neighborhood, park, or a local Christmas tree lot for pine cones, holly, Christmas tree branches, or other beautiful natural decorations.

- Visit your local craft store and make your own Christmas Ornaments, Wreaths, and Decorations that you can use year after year.
- Buy Fair Trade and Eco-Friendly Decorations and Ornaments
to decorate your home.
- Buy or rent a living Christmas tree. If this does not work for you, a cut Christmas tree is second best. You can recycle them to be used for mulch.
- A used white (or any color) table cloth is perfect for a Christmas tree skirt, just cut a hole in the middle.
- Do you keep your used cans? Cut up an empty can and put in a candle, and you have a great luminary.
- You can use Christmas decorations from years past, even broken ones, to make new decorations! Put old Christmas balls (remove the tops first) in a bowl and you have a beautiful Christmas centerpiece!
- The most sustainable (and cheapest) way to Green Christmas Decorating is to just reuse Christmas decorations from years past.

We saw some LED Christmas lights at Target last night. A hundred lights were $12! The non-LED lights were about $4. I wonder if it’s worth the price? How long would the pay back be from the energy savings?
